Show your friends and family you care about their success in school, career and life.  Things being what they are right now in the world, there has never been a time where people need to balance the energy surrounding them.  School is starting or has started for our kids, people are struggling to make ends meet, or even worried if they will have a job next week.  Now is a great time to give a dragon figure or dragon sculpture as a gift.

The Chinese practice of feng shui has a couple of interesting dragon collectibles that make great gifts.  Feng shiu is about using the universal energy that flows all around us, channeling it and finding a balance in our lives.

For the student returning to school or the business professional trying to eek out a living, the dragon figure is strong in Yang, an active masculine energy.  The active energy of this dragon sculpture could help the student achieve better grades.  While the masculine energy helps the busy professional create a take charge air about them.  If the dragon is holding a pearl in its claw, you can add prosperity to the energy.

Another interesting feng shui figure is the dragon headed turtle.  This figure represents longevity, prosperity and a new beginning.  It’s often found sitting on a bed of coins.  Also it will have one or two generations of babies on its back.  As with the dragon figure holding a pearl or other gem, you use four different colored ribbons or coins placed in the mouth of the dragon headed turtle to enhance the energy properties.  Making this a great gift for the student just starting school or the professional starting a new career.

There are some specific recommendations that a feng shui expert would tell you about.  Things like how and where we should display the dragon sculpture.  An example, don’t place the dragon in a bedroom.  Want to show you care and are thinking about the well being of a friend or loved one.  Give them the gift of dragon collectibles with hand written instructions on how to get the best energy out of the figure.

Dragon Figure art can be made from a verity of materials.  Hand painted enamel over metal.  Plain metal such as pewter or bronze.  The dragon figure could be ceramic or made from plaster.  Painted and unpainted.  The unpainted can be fun if you like to paint.  As some of my other posts allude to, I like a verity of dragon collectables.

Dragon Glass is also a great type of material and create some unique dragon art.  There is hand blown glass, molded blown glass, fused glass, and molded glass, to name a few.  There are also plenty of inexpensive pieces to be found.  These can be just as colorful and with the right lighting very dramatic.

Dragon Sculpture I find is a bit more expensive and may not be right for a beginner.  I guess it depends on your budget.  I think dragon sculpture pieces can be the most dramatic of all the art you will collect.  Dragon sculpture can be found in all sizes, anything from a small dragon figure to a large fountain statue you can put in your garden.  A Gothic garden theme would be so cool.  Just a thought, no way my HOA would let me.

Some other tips for the beginner to collecting.  Start slow, don’t go crazy and buy too many pieces at once.  Take the time to enjoy the piece/s you have.  Low on cash, try some yard sales and check out the links from this site.  The internet is great for finding dragon collectibles in any price range.  Lastly, I would stay away from the craft shows until you know what is a reasonable price should be.  I love craft shows, but there are some people out there that will stiff you.
